2022 efile rejected

How can this be? We've filed MFJ for decades and decided to try efile for the first time for 2022. It was rejected claiming spouse's AGI was wrong. It was pre-filled by TTax and was identical to mine. Mine was not rejected.

I received a PIN from IRS in Jan and filled that in on our return. She did not receive a PIN and we left that space blank. I will re-file using her PIN from the 2021 return and report back.

The IP PIN from 2021 is expired.

You must enter the PIN mailed to you in January.

enter the same AGI  for both when supplying AGI for a joint return e-Filing.

If your spouse got an IP PIN (six digits) in 2021 you have to go to IRS website for her 2022 IP PIN because you are missing it.

if she had a PIN from 2021, it would have been re-issued for 2022.  they are mailed in January.  The 2021 PIN will not work on a 2022 tax return.

How did you file before?  By mail?  When did you mail your 2021 return?

ENTER 0 FOR AGI. The IRS took a long time last year to process 2021 returns so the AGI didn't get entered in time.  Especially if you mailed it.  That works for most people. See,

Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

To try fixing or entering it go back though the File tab again.

As explained above, you may have to enter AGI  = 0

but if you are missing an IP PIN or enter the wrong IP PIN,

you will still be REJECTED.
