1099 NEC

my 1099 NEC has my income in box 7 STATE INCOME  instead of BOX 1 and it is not being counted as income so I'm showing a loss instead of profit. Am i doing something wrong?

Contact the person who issued the 1099-NEC and have them create a corrected form.  The income needs to be in Box 1 and in Box 7.

For now pretend the form has the amount in box 1 as well so you can correctly file your return.

Online tax preparation and e-filing for 2020   returns will soon be  permanently closed.  You had until midnight on Friday, October 15 to finish and attempt to e-file; if your e-file was rejected you have  until October 20 to make corrections and re-file. Now it is too late to use online software or to e-file.

If you have any changes/corrections at all to make to your 2020 return, you now have just a couple of days to finish using the online program before the online system closes for the 2020 returns.  After that you will need to use the desktop software, which you must download to a full PC or Mac  (not to a mobile device).  Save the .taxfile  ASAP so you can continue in the downloaded program and not have to start again from scratch.

If you already paid for your online software you can ask customer support for a download of the desktop software.

If you are getting a refund, there is no penalty for filing late.  If you owe tax due, then file and pay the amount due as shown on the Form 1040, but expect a bill later from the IRS for the penalty and interest you will owe.  Only the IRS will calculate this—TurboTax will not calculate it.
