I paid my 2015 property taxes in January 2016 but this is not included on the 1098 I received from my mortgage company. Where do I report this?

I bought my house in late 2015.  Part of the closing costs were property taxes owed for 2015.  I did not make that payment until January 2016.  That amount is not included on the 2016 Form 1098 as the 2015 check was dispersed to  me at the time of closing.  I received a 1098 from my lender for 2015 but it did not show real estate taxes paid.  How do I report that payment this year?

You will include the amount you paid directly in the total amount of real estate taxes paid.
