Regarding STAR credit, once I follow MayaD's and LenaH's recommendations for NY return, I got the message: "If you are claiming itemized deductions you must reduce your federal property tax deduction by the amount of New York savings received in 2023." You need to revisit the Property Tax in the Deductions and Credits section on your Federal return:
If you itemize your deductions, reduce your itemized deduction for real estate taxes paid by the total amount of any STAR credit received during the tax year; keep your check stub with your tax records.
