TurboTax 2020: Itemized deductions are overridden by standard deductions

Hello TT users,

Has anyone faced this issue?

I am seeing an issue where TT chooses standard deduction always (24800) instead of the itemized (26K).

I am choosing the itemized deduction choice when asked but it still chooses standard deduction.

Thanks in advance

Not everything in the deductions and credits tab are deductions on the Sch A  so you may need to look those over carefully  and the  SALT act limited the  state and local taxes section to a max of $10K.

Go ahead and force the Sch A to see if the standard deduction is indeed better (remember you get to add $300 to the standard deduction this year if you do not itemize.

Thanks @Critter-3

I followed that exact method. But it still keeps the standard deduction.

Something crazy this time

I am used to doing this every year with TT but this time it doesn't seem to be working
