Finally connected to a person on TT and figured it out.
The only way to make an entry to Schedule A Line 6 is to Go To Forms, Open Schedule A, and then make a manual entry on Line 6.
Save the form and hopefully the entry carries over to the desktop version (because you can never see it there!)
Thanks again, @Cynthiad66 .
Generally, excise taxes can't be deducted on your personal return. This includes things like fuel taxes and excise taxes paid to your city or state when you sell your home.
However, some states and localities erroneously label excise taxes as personal property taxes, which may be deductible. For example, some states refer to certain vehicle registration fees as an excise tax.
Excise taxes imposed on personal property (vehicles, campers, boats, RVs, etc.) are an allowable deduction if two conditions are met:
Excise taxes that are necessary to conduct business can usually be deducted as a business expense.

Many thanks @Cynthiad66 for the response. Unfortunately my issue is not resolved.
Simply stated, I need to access Line 6 on Schedule A to enter an admissible deductible item.
If I was using a tax form, IRS allows you to write in the entry and amount. Does Turbotax offer this capability or is it a system bug/limitation ?
Thanks.
@YusufA Here is how to get to that line 6. This will take you there.
If your excise tax qualifies as a personal property tax, follow these steps to enter your personal property taxes.

@Cynthiad66 - thanks for your patience.
I followed you till (5. Click on the Start/Revisit button to the right of the Personal Property Taxes topic). At that point, the software offers you only three options to enter:
- Property Tax on your main home
- Additional homes and lands
- Foreign real estate taxes.
There is no options to write-in Schedule A Line 6.
I both called and tried to chat to Turbotax. What an absolute nightmare!
Thanks again.

I have an amount entered on line 6 "other taxes" and I have no idea where it came from.
Schedule A other taxes could be State and local taxes paid:
any state withholding from your paychecks, retirement checks, unemployment checks, etc.
a state tax due you paid last year
any state estimated tax payments you made
any local taxes withheld on your checks like SDI in box 14 or 19 on your W2 - those will transfer automatically from your W2.
On the left of Line 6 on the Schedule A there should be listed the type of taxes and the amount. What is shown on your Schedule A?
Thanks for your interest.
Schedule A Line 6 reads: "Other taxes. List type and amount"
There is nothing to the left of it.
