Just got off the phone with the IRS who satisfactorily explained why my return was adjusted, however, When I asked about this TPG Products deposit he said to me " ma'am, that is not the IRS, we are the Department of the Treasury". So I went to the TPG website and started to read. Found out that if you elect your TurboTax payment be taken from your refund that is when TPG becomes involved, some how your refund is diverted to them they take the turbo fee and their fee from your refund and your bank deposit reflects TPG Products SBTG LLC. I suggest to Turbo if you want to keep your business that you have built on trust from your clientele. that you loose TPG's number because they are going to cost you your reputation, the trust you built from the community and your business. Don't let someone like TPG come in and SCAM your customers for a $, because that's what it amounts to. This has caused an uproar from your customers, read the post. You just lost my business. Goodbye 😢👋
All you have to do is pay the fees with a credit card and avoid the 3rd party bank and the Extra $40 Refund Processing Service charge (45 in California). And to avoid all the hassle and you should get the refund faster directly from the IRS.
And you're telling us that SBTPG can charge literally thousands of dollars for their fee?????
Who? No they don't take more than the Turbo Tax fee and the Extra $40 Refund Processing Service charge (45 in California). It is not thousands of dollars. If your refund is short there is something else going on like the IRS adjusted your return or took it for something you owed.
Please do, this is ridiculous.
That is B-- S---.
I'm working on my lawsuit. I believe it is unlawful for turbotax (with small t's) to do this without prior warning.
Too late with that advice. How about a lawsuit?
How about a Class Action lawsuit? It seems like there are literally thousands of us out here that are out millions of dollars.
I owed NOTHING and I have no children. Nor are ANY of the stimulus checks taxable. So if I read these comments correctly, LOTS of people have issues this year!!!!
@rise22 You are correct that the stimulus checks are not taxable. But LOTS of people have made mistakes when they entered the amounts they received for those stimulus checks, and the mistakes have resulted in the IRS correcting (and reducing) refunds.
LOTS of people have made mistakes this year with the recovery rebate credit by "forgetting" that they received the $1400 per person stimulus checks last year. They answered no to the questions for the recovery recovery rebate credit and put the $1400 per person on line 30 of their returns. But you cannot get it twice, so the IRS removes it when it is there by mistake.
Try checking your online account with the IRS
https://www.irs.gov/payments/your-online-account
Does the IRS show that you received a $1400 stimulus or EIP check in 2021? Did you receive it? When you were asked on your tax return did you say no? Was there $1400 on line 30 of your tax return?
If the IRS says you got $1400 last year but you did not receive it you can have it traced.
LOST THIRD STIMULUS CHECK
If you need to trace a payment that the IRS says has been issued to you, mail or fax a completed IRS Form 3911, Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund.
I did not enter anything wrong - I've been using TT for about 25 years now...but not any more....
@rise22 You will receive a letter from the IRS in several weeks which will explain why they reduced your refund. If you need to dispute the reason you can do so. Meanwhile.....if you received the $1400 stimulus last year---look at your Form 1040 and see if line 30 is blank. If it is not blank then you tried to get it twice---by accident.
@rise22 - so just curious, the mistake has to either be a data entry issue or a calculation error.
which do you think it is and why?
the calculation was quite simple:
Line 30 = 1) the number of people listed on your tax return 2) times $1400 3) LESS your input of what you already received,4) but not less than zero.
which of the 4 items was incorrect? (and whatever your answer is has to be the same for every single person who used TT and received a correction notice from the IRS.
Line 30 IS blank...I did not try to cheat.
