I think you are describing form 1116 and I also think this is the right way.

Turbotax 2024 version (online) requires FEIN for foreign dividends and interests and keeps pointing out errors in final check. I have tried several options like 11, 99, 1234.. , but nothing works and leaving it blank is not an option either. The older versions had accepted one of the above entries but the new version does not. So need advice on how to resolve this ASAP, please.

It depends. Try using 99-999000. There has been some success in using this.

But @TurboTax, please take a note and fix this for next year ASAP by allowing fully manual entry for Foreign dividend and interest. That can save a lot of heartache.
