When you claim an adult as a dependent, you get a $4050 personal exemption, which lowers the amount of your income that you are taxed on. It is not a refund. Unlike when you have a child as a dependent, there are not any other “refundable credits” like earned income credit that you can get for claiming an adult as your dependent.

How much do I get for a child under the age of 3 and a 18 year old
@Crylynn88 This is a very old thread that began when there were personal exemptions for each dependent and different tax laws in effect.
Your tax return is not broken down by how much you "get" per dependent. But you mention that you have a 3 year old and an 18 year old. The child tax credit for the 3 year old should be $3600. If the 18 year old turned 18 at any time in 2021, then you do not get child tax credit for him. You get the the $500 credit for other dependents.
And if you have not yet received the EIP payments for claiming the dependents then you may get the recovery rebate credit for claiming them. That will show up on line 30 of your Form 1040.
As for what else you "get"----that depends. We have no information from you. So we do not know if you qualify for earned income credit or childcare credit. And we do not know if you received the advance child tax credit payments that were issued between July and December.
Look at your Form 1040.
