I thought 8834 is already available and we are waiting for Form 8936?? When will Form 8936 will be available to e-file?
Thanks
It should be available 24 hours after the IRS approves TurboTax to use the form. Currently, the IRS has not finalized the form. Here is the IRS web page to check the status of form 8936: Available Forms and Limitations. Scroll down to Form 8936.
Why 8936? Is that one for "plug-in" vehicles. Should 8834 be for EVs?
Anyway, 8936 or 8834 doesn't make much difference, we just need that link to be "live" so when we click on that link in TurboTax to take us through questions and determine what form and what deduction to apply. Right? That's why we are paying for it. If I was searching for what particular forms, than I would do taxes on my own.

Don't you hate when a company say by 2/12/2020 the form will be ready when competitors like H&R Block have been ready...then they aren't. TurboTax...get your crap together!
I'm inquiring about form 8834. This form has been available on IRS since 01/27. Can anyone please update us on when this form will be available on Turbo Tax?

Just checked and form still not available on TT online.
Can someone please confirm when it will be available?
The form is available in TurboTax now.
You should now see this screen when you go to Cars and other things you own under Deductions and Credits:
If you are working in TurboTax online, and do not see it, please log out of TurboTax, clear browser cookies and cache, close your browser and restart TurboTax. This should ensure that you are working in the most recent release.
If you continue to have difficulty, please reply to this post and let us know what version of the program you are using so that we can look into it.
Phase out calculation is wrong. I purchased a Tesla in October 2019. The credit should be 25% of $7500= $1875 but Turbotax tells me it is $7500.
Turbotax please fix this ASAP so that we can file our taxes.
We have a known issue with the form. Please click on this containment link and we will notify you when the issue has been resolved.
What if we already filed?
If you have already filed your return and it has been accepted by the IRS, then you will need to file an amended return to claim the credit.
You have up to three years from the due date of the original return to file the amended return. Therefore, give it a little time for the needed form to be released and ready to use in TurboTax.
Then, use the following instructions to amend your return: How do I amend my 2019 TurboTax Online return?
Count me among the frustrated. This is also the one thing that is delaying my return filing. I really wish they would elevate this problem to get it resolved asap. I'm definitely less enthusiastic about my Turbo Tax purchase now.
Kinda messed up too that their bug is causing people to have to file amended returns. What a pain. And to think, they/we paid money for this software which is costing us time and energy.
