I understand the corrected home mortgage worksheet is supposed to be available on Feb 17 however it is Feb 21 and I'm still receiving the error message preventing me from filing saying that the worksheet is not available to calculate multiple mortgages. Can someone please tell me how to bypass this error so that I can either manually fill in the schedule A calculations or get the software to update?
My advice is be careful of the workaround. Depending on your exact scenario your calculations may end up being off. The workarounds being posted here don't account for all scenarios, especially when you have more than two 1098s.
Suggest you wait until Feb 28th (couple of people here and the other thread got that date as the expected update from TT phone reps) or switch to a competitor.
In the meanwhile please post and share these threads on Twitter and tag TT to pay attention. Also share on LinkedIn.
Just Great. I decided to request a full refund since the error is on TT in that we are unable to file having 2 - 1098's. They refused my request for a full refund due to the fact, note fine print, that their 60 day money back guarantee does not apply to TurboTax Online.
I've filed elsewhere and TT's refusal for a full refund will cost them more in lost business.
Thanks for nothing TT.
Hi Alicia,
It is past 2/17/22 and the error is still showing. Do you know when the form will be available?
I refinanced in 2021 and paid off a HELOC. Is there a trick to filing now if the form is not yet available?
Best,
Heidi
I have three mortgages. A first and second for the original purchase (no cash out) and the new mortgage. The first and second on the original are a $0 balance as of 1/1/2022. The balance on the the new mortgage is over the threshold. Is there a work around or do I need to wait on TT? It's after the 2/17 so I'm not sure if I'm just stuck or if there is a way to file.
As mentioned above the "method" reduces your return. It is now 2/21/22 and still seeing the error along with "available 2/17/22" .
Having the exact same issues. Sold a home in 2021 and purchased a home in 2021. The dates don't overlap, this should be simple. It's ridiculous that you have to pay TT before you discover the error, by then it's too late. Additionally, it's past the 17th. Change the date TT.
Does anyone know of another tax software that actually works?
I tried TaxAct and it was able to handle it without a problem. It's a bit more work and requires some manual entry here and there, and you have to calculate your average balances by yourself (it's not too hard, I wish they had it done automatically, but at least I can file there...) but otherwise it works just fine. I think TT is unique in their inability to handle multiple 1098s and it's a shame. It's a pretty common thing to refinance or move to another house, and that's what we pay for - anybody can copy simple w2 values, it's more tricky forms where one needs a reliable tax software. And TT doesn't seem to be that anymore.
It is 2/21/22 and the "Deductible Home Mortgage Interest Worksheet" is still not fixed. Can we please get an update? It is the only item holding me back from filing and am sure I am not the only one.
Have been using TurboTax for almost a decade but given that they have no clue when they will allow two 1098 forms for a 2021 refinance or similar situations (Feb 17th has come and gone), what website/company do you recommend as a more capable alternative?
Also, has anyone had luck with refunds? As others have done, I have also paid first ($120) and assumed I could still file with the interim form.
I'm currently on the phone with someone to try and fix the issue rather than refund but I'm sure that won't happen, or it would have for others. Will update if there's anything worthwhile to report back.
Yeah, this is getting ridiculous. I'm asking for my money back, and if they don't return it I'm filing a dispute with the credit card company. They promised to deliver a service - filing taxes - and due to their software malfunctioning, they are unable to do that. This is clearly their fault and I should not be paying for it. It's extra sneaky that they take the money first and only then they tell me the return actually can't be filed. It's your software, you know you can't deliver, why did you take the money?
I decided to cut my losses with Turbo Tax and was able to file with FreetaxUSA for a fraction of what I would have had to pay with TT.
They just told me to check back on the 26th and try one more time then. Supposedly some updates aren't getting pushed through as they should. I personally am not in a rush to file, so I'll wait and report back here. If it still doesn't work then, I'll try FreeTaxUSA as suggested and will file a dispute with Amex for the TurboTax charges. They didn't 'offer' a refund at all, though I didn't push for it hard but mentioned wanting to go somewhere else.
I keep on seeing comments about refunds, I had chosen the option to pay from my refund, which of course is no longer happening since i filed my taxes with a competitor
You should be able to apply for a refund here: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-topics/help/how-do-i-request-a-refund-for-my-turbotax-product/...
Will see how that works...
