as of 3/5 form available shows efile not supported mail yes
If everyone sends them an email maybe they will fix it quicker...It is an easy fix since almost every other tax software provider (OLT, TaxAct, etc.) offers it already. I emailed the CEO (Sasan Goodarzi) and the rest of the team there. The emails are easy to find on a Google search. Would have listed them here but the forum blocks all references, contact info and names.
I too emailed Intuit and received an answer --
My name is Dana with Intuit's Office of the President. We received your email and I wanted to provide you with the most current information Intuit TurboTax has about Form 1116 Schedule B – Foreign Tax Carryover Reconciliation Schedule. After further investigation, our Product Specialist was able to confirm that you will be able to E-File with the 1116 schedule B attached as a PDF, once that form is finalized. I apologize for any miscommunication earlier, as it was unclear if this form was going to be able to be E-Filed or not. Form 1116 is final; the schedule B is set for tentatively 3/31. However, our Development Team is working around the clock to try to get the form out ASAP.
Now, what I'm unsure of, is how can I e-file AND send in a pdf file of one form? It may end up being similar to amending a form? Send it in, separately after my taxes are filed? (Certified mail to track)
Fortunately for me (not really) I've got to pay this year, so it doesn't bother me to send in paper later... But I prefer to e-file, due to all the IRS issues.
I did also check out alternatives -- On Line Taxes (OLT) and they DO NOT offer importing from Brokerages, but support 1116 with Schedule B.
Also, TaxAct supports 1116 Schedule B and Importing data. It may be time to switch tax software providers.
Thank you for sharing this information. Did she tell you how to do this - how to add a pdf when you efile? If not, can you please email her and ask her? Also can you confirm we will be able to do this with our state filing?
Nice explanation, but the Schedule B for Form 1116 which I downloaded from the IRS site a while back was dated December 2021.
So not sure what the form not being "final" until March 31st means. Maybe just not "final" in their system.
It now says this....
I need form 1116 , Schedule B for e-filing. When will Turbotax add this form?
That question has been answered 30+ times in this thread.
I was able to e-file 1118 Schedule B using TaxAct. It takes more time on TaxAct entering all your data because you can't import the pdfs from your documents. And you have to enter your carryover data on the schedule B form yourself. But then you can e-file everything in the end.
Basically TaxAct had no problem making it possible to e-file your Schedule B while TT ignores its customers and refuses to do so.
You can do that but then it depends on your case. In mine, the credit is for about $1000 but the deduction is $0 since I am using standard deduction this year
I will wait till April 10th, and then if still not available for e-file, I will send them by mail. Since I owe them, I don’t mind that it takes months…..
But then, y declining the carry over for this year, you lose whatever the carryover was. If I follow you, you mean that the money will still be there, but simply postpone when to get it. I still prefer to wait til like April 10th and check again. If not available for e-file, I will file by mail
Why are you not supporting eFiling? This is not a new issue. I have been paying your price which is considerably higher than other computer tax companies, because i used to be able to count on you. I have filed Form1116 and related schedules using Turbotax for years. Now you don't support it? Why are you not preparing this form?
it is not available on 3/5/2022
Appreciate your response have been in forms mode line 18 and the caution not but for the life of me can't find the box you say to check to use the lower number. Any extra detail on this box would be appreciated. Thank you.
