Did you take a close look at your actual form W-2 to see what the code actually was in that place?

IF it is actually a "T" on your real paper form, then the employer made a mistake...either in the person involved in that W-2, or mis-selected the code and perhaps intended it to be a "W" ? IF the code on your W-2 is a "T", then you are going to have to get in touch with that employer to have a corrected W-2 (a W-2C) issued.
Thank your for your response! I manually entered the info from the original W-2 and the box in question on the W-2 is in fact coded as a “T” which is the code for employer provided adoption benefits.
Additionally, my box 12d on the w-2 is where my “W” amount is shown separately.
It must have been a mistake made by the employer on the W-2.
Wow...I missed that it's a "T" not a "V" for adoptions.
(what in the world was I looking at?)
