In my case, nothing that has been suggested has worked. I still have not filed, and have tried each new suggestion - more than once. And I've tried some things that weren't suggested. No resolution so far.
Having the exact same issue - followed all of the suggestions and still hung on the medical expenses.

The message will not prevent e-filing and can be ignored, especially if you are taking the standard deduction. Even if you are itemizing, the medical expenses are flowing to Schedule A. You can view Schedule A to confirm this. Click through all 11 expense categories and then make sure to click Continue on the screen that confirms your deduction (standard or itemized). You can trigger the screen by following the steps in this Help article.

Medical says Needs Review. See this work around
I'm having the same issue, and the advice given DOES NOT WORK!
Have you gone through the medical interview questions entirely? Do not exit the interview process until you see the Right now, the Standard/Itemized Deduction saves you the most on the taxes screen, and click Done. It has been found that if any interview questions are skipped, the medical review needs review will continuously occur until the interview process has been completed. Respond to this thread if you have tried this and still have issues.
Hello,
More than once, I have completed all of the medical expense questions and reached the page where I'm told the standard deduction is the right choice. I have not skipped any questions or any pages. I have placed my cursor in each box of each page, and I've also been through the pages and questions by putting a zero in each box. Each time, I reach the page that tells me the standard deduction is the right choice. Each time, when I click DONE, and I am returned to the summary page, I still have 'needs review' beside the medical expenses category.
I have also deleted the medical expenses page following the instructions provided, but the medical expenses category remains in the deductions and credit summary page indicating 'needs review'.
I realize it will not keep me from filing, so just responding that the offered solution has not worked for me after numerous attempts so that you will know it is still a problem for me and others.
Thank you for your assistance. Rikamae55
It would be helpful to have a TurboTax token. The token provides a sanitized version of your return. We will be able to see the numbers but not any personal information such as your name, SSN, or address.
If you would like to do this, here are the instructions:
In TurboTax Online, go to the black panel on the left side of your program and select Tax Tools.
In TurboTax CD/Download versions, go to the black panel on your screen and select Online.
Reply to this thread with your Token number.
We will then be able to see precisely what you are seeing, and we can determine what exactly is going on in your return and provide you with a resolution.
Hello,
I provided a token early into this conversation, but I'm glad to do it again if it might help.

Thank you. Rikamae55
The exact same thing happened to me. I can't file yet because the medical expenses don't register at all on my form.
With the medical expenses you must go through the medical questions in their entirety even if they do not apply to you until you see the screen, "The standard/itemized works best for you". This should clear the medical needs review error. If you are still having issues you may need to delete the medical worksheet and re-enter.
I have exactly this problem right now. Please help me. I press "done," it says "this year you get a tax break for your medical expenses," and "your tax return already includes this deduction." But no amount appears on the summary page.

As I messaged before, I enter all medical expenses, get message "this year, you get a tax break for your medical expenses," but then it says "your tax return already includes this deduction." When I press "done" and go to summary page, there is no amount recorded -- it just says "needs review" for 2022 amount.

No response needed. I kept clicking through and my medical expense amount eventually appeared. Thank you.
