I mixed American Rescue Plan and Economic Impact Payments

I thought Economic Impact Payments(EIP3) and American Rescue Plan is same thing, so I filled $1400 for EIP3 since  American Rescue Plan only received $1400

Now, EIP3 6475 letter showed me $700 for each person.

Now I realized.

my American Rescue Plan only received $1400, but my wife has received it yet.

EIP3 should receive $2800, but $1400.

How can I correct it?

File an amended 2021 return to get any missing third stimulus payments.

If you went to an accountant or used another tax program, you can buy and install TurboTax on your computer and then file an amended return. First, enter your original data so it matches what was filed before working on the amendment.

DO NOT file an amended tax return if you entered an incorrect amount for the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit on your tax return.

I did filled it but I filled wrong amount.

How long ago did you file your return? Did you get your refund? Or is your return still being processed? 

You can check Where's My Refund? if you do not remember.

If you received your original refund, then the IIRS did not fix your return to add the additional $1,400 so you should file an amended return.

If your return is still being processed, then you are correct, you should wait until you hear from the IRS.

Should I fill $1400 or $2800? I've received $1400 which was reduced to my total tax.

Fill in what you actually received. The difference will be added to your refund as a Recovery Rebate Credit on Form 1040 line 30.

• Type "stimulus" in Search in the upper right corner
• Select "Jump to stimulus"
• TurboTax will show you the amount of stimulus you’re entitled to and ask whether the amount matches what you got
• Say No if it doesn't
• TurboTax will let you enter what you received and add the extra to your refund

Looks like options have changed in search content, can I amend 2021 and fill my line 30 as $1400? but I need to mail it to IRS.

Yes, you can amend your 2021 tax return to receive the Recovery Rebate Credit. The return will need to be printed and mailed.
