Does the Box 12 amount have a Code D, a Code W or do you have an amount for both codes? Code D is for a contribution to a 401(k), Code W is for a contribution to an HSA. You can verify the entry of your W-2 is correct in the Job section of Income & Expenses.
Once you have an amount on your W-2 Box 12 with a Code W, that will automatically be entered as an HSA contribution. You can then enter any additional information about your HSA, including additional out-of-pocket contributions and withdrawals by going to Deductions & Credits and scrolling down to Medical, and clicking Revisit/Start next to HSA, MSA Contributions.
I HAVE entered the amount listed on line 12, Code W, of my W2. I have double and triple checked it, but it still does not appear on the HSA page. I think it must be a glitch in the software.
EDIT: I just checked and now it the $1150 from Line 12W does appear on the HSA Summary page, but on the Tax Break Summary Page the line for HSA contributions still says $0 as if nothing was entered for 2021. Shouldn't the $1150 show up on the Tax Break Summary page as well?
Unfortunately no. The amount in Box 12 with code W is what your employer contributed to your HSA and not you. That is the reason you are not getting any tax breaks.
If you contribute any amount to HSA, it will appear in line 2 of form 8889 and you will get the tax break. The amount from line 2 in form 8889 will be carried over to line 13 of Schedule 1 as an adjustment to your income.
