I didn't get the 500 for my child as well. He was born in 2019 and we filed. I was reading an article about the newborn might have to wait until next year to get that $500.
This has been reported by a number of people. We do not have any information at this time. The IRS phone lines seem to be down at this time, but you would have to contact them for clarification.
The IRS has a Websites to update information and check your filing status.
Please read what it says on the right hand side where it says “Filers: Get Your Payment”
These are the guidelines to qualify.
If they meet these requirements, the additional $500 will be sent to the taxpayer that claimed the child on their most recent tax return (2018 or 2019).
The exact same thing happened with my wife and I. Our little girl was born in March of 2019, so we had already filed our taxes. So although she was here for most of 2019 they apparently didn't have record of her (from tax returns) for the purposes of the Stimulus. Now it has been impossible to find out anything. I would love to find an update when one is finally available.
Thanks!
@justice9925 The stimulus money is an advance on a credit you will be able to get when you file your 2020 return next year in 2021. Since your child was not on your 2018 return--which is the one it appears the IRS used for your stimulus check--then you can get the $500 when you file your 2020 return.
