How can I reopen my 2019 tax calculations to determine what the tax would have been given a lower income? (needed for credit calc. associated with a relocation repayment)

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the user ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

  • Select Documents from the left sidebar
  • A view documents from:  YEAR
  • Select the year that you want from the drop down menu
  • Upload

If you want to manipulate your previous return you will have to amend it.  You will not file the return, but it is the only way to make changes.

Since 2019 and 2020 tax code did not change significantly you could prepare a mock tax return on the 2020 software by reposting the info from 2019.

Be sure not to file it by mistake.

To amend a return

Some quick ground rules:

  1. Be sure the original return was filed and accepted.
  2. Save the original return before you start the amendment
  3. Change the name of the amended return.
  4. DO NOT go back into the return or change anything before you start the amendment process.
  5. Gather everything you need before you start.
  6. Complete the entire amendment process before you log out.
  7. Starting with 2020 tax returns you can E-File a 1040-X amended tax return.  All prior years must be printed and mailed.

You can correct a return that you've already filed and had accepted.  Select the year that applies and use this guide to proceed.

Select your tax year for amending instructions:
