Education credits

Is this a homework or exam question?

Totally not. I just want to make sure that simple supplies like pens, pencils, printer ink, materials for projects, etc. be considered qualified expenses for the I.R.S. in order to get the education credits.

See What are qualified education expenses for the American Opportunity and Lifetime Learning credits?

"Books, supplies, and equipment", if required to be purchased from the institution as a condition of enrollment or attendance are qualified expenses for the Lifetime Learning Credit.

"Books, supplies, and equipment", regardless of where purchased are qualified expenses for the American Opportunity Credit.

"Phone, Phone Plan and Home Internet Plans" would not be qualified education expenses for purposes of tax credits. They would come under the category of "personal expenses". They may be desirable or even essential to your program of study, but aren't uniquely applicable to your educational undertaking.
