The standard deduction for an individual who can be claimed as a dependent on another person's tax return is generally limited to the greater of:
$1,100, or
The individual's earned income for the year plus $350 (but not more than the regular standard deduction amount, generally $12,400).
the first $10,200 of unemployment doesn't count anymore.....what are the exact numbers on Line 1 and Line 11?
she shouldn't owe any tax in any event....

what I meant was Lines 1-11 on Form 1040.......
My bad. I edited the previous reply with updated calculations
I put your amounts into my program. Here is the 1040 I got. Does yours look like this? Where are you seeing earned income of 9767?
Are there any letters by line 1 like SCH 1145? Did you enter a 1098 for scholarship income?

Oh line 9 for 9767 is Total Income not Earned Income. The Standard Deduction is only line 1 $4806+350 = 5156.
Oh okay, got it! Thank you for your help!
By the way.....the 1098T goes on your return not hers. See the tips at the bottom of this FAQ

How old is she? Did she provide over half of her own support for the year?
