I'm using Desktop, and the Forms (not EasyStep) approach. I find it impossible to enter 12,950 (or anything) in line 12 of Form 1040 for Standard Deduction. It remains blank and can't be overridden. Same in the worksheet. I don't want to do the Schedule A details, I already know. What to do?

Cannot do that in forms. There are some entries that can only be entered by the TurboTax software and this is one of them
Go back to the interview and complete the Personal Info section. You will be asked if you are Married and you should select Single. Once the Personal Info section is completed the Standard Deduction of $12,950 will be entered on the Form 1040 Line 12.
"Cannot do that in forms."
That is a definite downgrade compared to a few years back! Sorry to say, the quality of this product seems to be slipping...
But thanks for the tip, it worked.
