Your 2019 property tax has to be put on a 2019 tax return; if you filed a 2019 return and did not put it on you can amend 2019. Only your 2020 property tax paid can be on a 2020 tax return.
Are you trying to determine if you can deduct your property taxes on your income tax return?
If so, the answer depends.
If you are able to itemize your deductions, you can deduct your property taxes.
However, you can only deduct the property taxes paid in 2020 on your 2020 income tax return.
All of your input needs to be entered in the Federal section of the return.
This will then pull into the applicable tax forms.
Please be aware the overall itemized deduction allowed for taxes is limited to $10,000. Anything above this amount is not deductible.
Any property taxes paid in 2019 will need to be reported on your 2019 income tax return. If you have already filed, you will need to amend your 2019 tax return to pick up this deduction.
