Is it possible to file taxes with “itemize deductions” selected with no entries, as well as remove the Qualified Business Income Deduction? TurboTax says to “fix the forms” when I get to the “File” section, not allowing me to file.
Why is this wanted?
Looking to get a mortgage; however, being self-employed, lenders use the average taxable income over 2 years. So, I would like to maximize my taxable income this year by not receiving any deductions. I feel like this situation would more common and easily accommodated , but having trouble finding any answers.
Thanks,
J

Do you really mean that you want to prepare your tax return without using any of your business expenses that should go on your Schedule C? That is not the same as not using itemized deductions. You are not required to use itemized deductions like mortgage interest or property tax, etc. that would go on a Schedule A. You can just use your standard deduction.
But making your self-employment income look artificially high by not entering your business expenses is not okay. Your normal business expenses like supplies, tools, mileage, etc. need to be entered on your Schedule C.
And Be aware, if you have self employment income you can get in trouble for not reporting all your expenses to qualify for the EIC.
Ah, thank you for your reply! Makes sense.
