Can I deduct new car registration and car tax in CT

CT does not charge their registration fees based on value and therefore they're not deductible for the itemized deductions. See screenshot below.

As for the car tax, if it was an annual personal property tax, you can deduct it under Personal Property Taxes (under Federal Taxes >>> Deductions & Credits >>> Cars & Other things you own).

However, if it is a sales tax (charged once at purchase paid to the seller), then it is deductible under Sales Tax (under Federal Taxes >>> Deductions & Credits >>> Estimates and Other Taxes Paid ).

Note: you get to take the larger of sales taxes or income taxes, but the software will walk you through this. I recommend selecting the easy guide, which will prompt you to enter major items, like your car and also give you a standard rate based on your income and CT tax rates.
