My husband and I have three sources (2 IRAs and a 401K) for which RMDs have been distributed. The return generated by TT shows two of them properly as IRA distributions, but the 401K RMD is shown on the line for pensions and annuities. It is neither a pension nor an annuity. Why is it misclassifying it and how do I get TT to categorize it correctly.

It is called "Pensions and annuities" because that is the wording on the official IRS 1040 form:
https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040.pdf
That is because 401(k) plans are defined under §401 of the tax code that is the pensions and annuities section. All plans subject to section 401 are classified as "pensions and annuities".
Line 4c/4d is for anything that is NOT an IRA on line 4a/4b.
No that is right. 401K goes on the pension line 4c & 4d. It is not an IRA.

Thanks for the clarification macuser_22 and for the link.
