where do I put state tax withheld?

State taxes withheld are on your W-2 and/or on your Form 1099.  Enter the W-2 and/or Form 1099 on your 2024 tax return.

where do I put state tax withheld?

It depends.  If you have state tax withheld, that is not on a W-2, you can enter it using another method.

  1. Open your TurboTax Online or TurboTax Desktop return.
    1. TurboTax Online: Select Tax Home (left panel) > Select Deductions and Credits > Select Other Income Taxes Paid in 2024
    2. Select Withholding not already entered on a W-2 or 1099 > Continue to enter your state withholding
    3. TurboTax Desktop: Select Deductions and Credits > Scroll to Other Income Taxes Paid in 2024
    4. Follow Step 2 above
