I worked for the same employer and moved from IL to NJ. All of my earning for 2025 was in IL, not NJ. I'm receiving two W2 (e.g #1. IL box 16 $5K, box 17 $50; #2. NJ box 16 also $5K, box 17 $10) . Since box 16 for both IL and NJ showed $5K, it is a bit confusing. I don't want to pay twice. How do I file it in Turbo tax? Thanks.

Enter both W-2s exactly as issued in the system. Then you will need to file an Illinois resident return (for all income) and a New Jersey nonresident return (taxed only on NJ-sourced income). You won't be taxed twice. If you earned no NJ income, your NJ return should calculate little to no tax and may refund the NJ withholding shown in Box 17.
Is the employer EIN number in box b at the top the same or different on each W2? If the EIN is different then enter each W2 separately.
If the EIN is the same and you work in more than 1 state or city, sometimes they will give you another W2 with the extra state information on it and the top part the same or not filled in. If this is the case, enter 1 W-2 but include both state and local taxes on it. It will let you type in more than one line for boxes 15-20. Don’t add the boxes together. If the locality in box 20 is the same you can simply combine the values in boxes 18 and then the values in box 19 together.
Same for boxes 12 and 14 if there is no room on the first W2 they can give you another W2 with the extra boxes on it. So list them all on 1 W2. For box 12 just enter it in the next row or box. It doesn’t have to match the box 12 a-d etc.
