Hi,
I received the following error when completing final review of MA state tax return: 'Returns with tax withheld on any form other than the following are not eligible for electronic filing: W-2, W-2G, 1099R, 1099-MISC'.
We do have a 1099-G for unemployment compensation in another state (Rhode Island) this year. Is this preventing the usual e-filing method in MA? All the other tax withholding forms are W-2 or 1099R. Thanks,

I also received the Massachusetts message "Returns with tax withheld on any form other than the following are not eligible for electronic filing: W-2, W-2G, 1099R, 1099-MISC" for my 2020 filing. I have paid the Turbotax fees for the state filing, but I have not mailed it in yet. I do have a form 1099-G for a 2019 Mass. state tax refund.
But there is another problem which I've seen mentioned once before: my Mass. tax "payment received" figure is double what it should be, so I'm due a large refund. That's fine, but I don't want to be pulled over by the state for fraud. Will Turbotax be able to help?
There are cases were 1099-g's (used for state refunds and unemployment) being accidentally duplicated, so the amount may be doubled as if you entered it twice. Please check the entry and delete the extra 1099-G form.
Please contact us if you believe you are entitled to a refund for your state e-file fee.
