I live in WA and we do not have income tax and do not have to file WA income tax. Why is TurboTax blocking me from e-filing federal because I require state? And you cannot remove the state option. I've tried deleting the forms and none of the posted suggestions are working. I'm using the Premier software.

You can file a federal tax return alone. A state is not required and should not be blocking you. If you paid for a state return, you won't be able to delete it. You can talk to customer service about a refund - contact support and they can take a look at your review error to get you filed.
That is not what is happening. Turbo tax will not allow WA state residence to file just Federal. It’s requiring state but if you do not qualify for the Working Families Tax Credit then it will not allow you to qualify eFile (even if you click the radio button to send in your state taxes separate and not eFile those). If there going to be a fix? This is ridiculous!!!
If you're using TurboTax Desktop Premier, and the FILE > REMOVE STATE RETURN option does not remove Washington, have you tried selecting 'Mail my Washington return' and 'Efile' for your Federal return'?
You should be able to Efile your Federal return separately. See Filing Federal and State Returns Separately.
If these suggestions don't work, you may want to perform a Manual Update and re-try Efiling just your Federal return again.
Lastly, in FORMS mode, you could delete all the WA forms manually, or just the Working Family Tax Credit form, then try FILE > REMOVE STATE RETURN again.
Let us know if none of these options resolves your issue, and we'll try to help. You can also Contact TurboTax Support for more help.
I wanted to share the solution to this. I just got off chat with support. On the page where you click if you want to e-file your taxes, if you scroll down, there's heading for state taxes and it defaults to say you want to file state taxes. Switch it to say do not file state taxes and it worked perfectly!
