Why is my deposit different then my accepted amount

So I filled my state and was accepted, and my return was $657. When I got my direct deposit into the account I was given $540.00. They accepted it, processed, then said it had been deposited into an account or the check was cashed. Don’t even tell you what they depositing and what they are not. I only realized this because I had to pull something else up on my account and then noticed Uncle Sam, sam’d me. Any way to apprehend my missing green backs?  This is very upsetting. This is no good. Especially after they accepted them and went through the three stages too see where your refund is.  Can anyone help.

Which was less--your state refund or your federal refund?

MY STATE REFUND WAS LESS THAN I EXPECTED

The state will send you a letter explaining the change.  TurboTax does not get any feedback from your state after your return is accepted, so no one at TT knows why your state refund was less.   Did you owe back taxes, child support, or student loans?  Traffic fines, etc.?

MY REFUND WAS LESS THAN I EXPECTED

There can be a number of reasons why your refund was less than the amount you expected. First of all, look carefully at your actual tax returns.  There is sometimes confusion about the amount of refund to expect when users misinterpret the “summary” they saw in TurboTax. The amount of your refund is on your tax return.  Federal refund line 20 on Form 1040  State tax forms are all different so we cannot tell you what line to look at on your state form.  BUT it is important to actually LOOK at your tax return forms yourself and see the amounts of your tax refunds and/or tax due.  A lot of confusion would be avoided by doing that.

TurboTax does not receive feedback from the IRS regarding money that was offset from your refund.  If you owed back taxes, child support, student loan debt, etc. you will receive a letter of explanation from the IRS in several weeks.  The WMR site will contain a message regarding your offset.  It is also possible that the IRS caught a mistake you made and reduced your refund.

It is also possible that your state reduced your refund for debts owed in your state—if the state reduced your state refund you will receive a letter from the state.

Be aware also that your Federal refund and state refund do NOT come together. Federal and state tax returns are processed by two completely separate entities.  There is no rule as to which one will come first,

Did you choose to have TT fees deducted from your Federal refund?  (Remember that if you did that, you also agreed to an extra refund processing fee of $39.99)

NOTE: You can contact the IRS Treasury Offset Program Call Center at 1-800-304-3107 to ask if they have an offset for you on file. TurboTax would not have that information.

Why is my deposit different then my accepted amount

It was my state. I mean im expecting one thing and through TT, where my info is suppose to be checked and even look for extra tax breaks i may have missed. Right? So a final check of things even and every thing was in order.  Here i paid almost $300.00 for TT and their input and tax skills of checking over my numbered and verifying, right?so im expecting me $ value and recieved some different $  Amount .  I trusted in TT and relied on them to do their part for thats why i paid hat steep fee.  Now im missing over $100. Yet TT cant tell me why nor anyone else for that matter. No mail explaining why even. This is so frustrating. Now i have late fees on bills i was needing to pay with the $ thats missing. So frustrated right now.i dont know what to do next or where to even be gain. This is a nightmare that i thought i paid for, not to have. I dont owe court fees, now student loans, and i dont have children. Guess all i can do is let out a chuckle about this. Im lost for words.

Contact your state to ask them what they changed and why:
