What does my Minnesota Taxable Income come to over $30,000 more than I made in that state? I didn't live in Minnesota at all last year.

My Minnesota Taxable Income is being shown as $36,051 when I only made $2534 while working a small job in Minnesota last year. At no point did I live in Minnesota.

Minnesota is one of the states that first figures the Minnesota (MN) taxable income as if you lived in MN all year, and then applies a "ratio" to prorate the tax to you based on your income in MN versus your total income.  Line 13 of your Form M1 is the amount of tax after applying the ratio, the ratio is calculated on Line 24 of Schedule M1NR.
