If I pay my state tax owed on the FTB website and mail my return in, do I show that payment on my tax return, and if so where?

No, you do not report your payment on your return.
No, you do not report your payment on your return.
Payments for a taxes due (or a liability) are not deductible and are not reported on your return. Taxes are pay-as-you-go. This means that you need to pay most of your tax during the year, as you receive income, rather than paying at the end of the year. If you paid with your return the year is already "gone" and you are satisfying your obligation so you avoid any further penalty.
I understand that they are not deductible. My question is pretty simple. I want to pay what I owe on the state website and mail my return in. I just need to know if I need to show what I paid on my return reducing the amount owed to zero.

Thank you!
