NY resident credit (IL & NY part-year resident)

I lived in IL and moved to NY last May. In IL I worked for a company in IL and in NY I work for a different company in NY. I received 2 W-2 so I thought when I file 2 state tax return as part-year resident I'm not double taxed and I can claim no NY resident credit towards my tax paid to IL. Is this accurate?

However, in turbotax NY "Credit for Tax Paid to Another State" section, the "New York Total" amount is my federal AGI (NY income + IL income). Should I put my IL income here to file a IT-112-R?             a.png

NY resident credit (IL & NY part-year resident)

No. You are not being double-taxed and should not claim a credit on your New York return for any tax paid to Illinois.

You can delete the form or you can leave those boxes blank. TurboTax shows you the form because some part-year residents are double-taxed if they work for the same employer.

In your situation, you changed jobs when you moved to IL so all your NY income is reported to NY and all your IL income is on the IL return. There is no overlap.
