Same exact issues, First it was federal which finally got resolved almost a month later and now it's the NY state. Again I also already paid their fees as well and everyone I speak with tells me to File by Mail. If I wanted to do that I would have never tried to use TurboTax to begin with. Now I am stuck because in NY they tell you that you are required to e-file if you e-file your federal. Absolutely ridiculous that the support people don't even have a straight story to tell customers when reporting issues. Why are we paying for inconsistent help??
It's good people are posting here about the same problem. I referred the TurboTax tech support to look at this thread. I've decided that I will give it until Monday, March 15th and if this issue is not fixed in TurboTax, I will request a refund and efile using H&R Block online. Their system seems to handle the COVID retirement distribution correctly and will let me file electronically. I encourage anyone else who has this issue to try entering your information in H&R Block online (or another competitor) to see if it works for you.
Thank you for following through with the H&R Block idea.
I'm working with a network news station in Buffalo to run a story about how TurboTax is ignoring New Yorkers with a broken solution when other vendors have figured it out. It's fun when you have relatives who are on air talent just how much noise you can make.
Hopefully it will be done by 3/12.
I am also having this issue been with Turbo Tax before it was even called Turbo Tax and they had bought out the original tax software I used to use. So I will be patient and wait until the 12th like everyone else before I ask for a refund because like you know NYS will not except a mailed return once you do your FED e-file.
Same problem!!! Lucky I found this thread. I also will not file by mail and hoping a resolution can be found soon. Thank you
Okay thank you for sharing this 🙂
Just an update on the thread. It appears this issue was fixed in TurboTax. I deleted and then reentered my 1099-R and was able to correctly apply the COVID related distribution across 3 years. The error is no longer being displayed and it appears I can efile successfully. I have not transmitted the filing yet but will do so shortly.
I am not happy about the way Intuit handled this issue but am glad it was eventually fixed.
