I am getting an error message when attempting to file a NJ-1040. It says that "returns with pass through business alternative income tax credits are not eligible for electronic filing"

The return in question has so such credit - is anyone else seeing a similar issue?

Thank you

I was able to finish and file electronically without issue via the mobile app!

I was finally able to Efile this morning.  Looks like the error has been cleared up.   No more error message stating about the pass through tax.

I updated this morning and the NJ efile went thru.

How do you "update" it?

@kevin85193 Those are for people using the Software version. Not for people using the app or the online version. The problem they are referring to was yesterday issue with the pass through biz. That was fixed and they can file now. The issue you are having is with the 1099B. That has not been fixed and has been issue with past years. Again if you go back to federal delete the automatic import put in the sales info yourself it will fix the issue. You can then delete your state and it will automatic redo it with the new federal info. If you are unsure how to do that you won’t be able to Efile. This has been issue with TT for years now. I don’t expect this to be fixed.

After updating desktop TT this morning (02/18/2022) I was successful in e-filing both Federal and NJ State taxes with no problems.

The fix worked after I updated. Thanks to the OP for bringing it up as I was initially confused if some tax laws have changed.

Same problem here. Also,, because I apparently have two accounts, finding it impossible to get a copy of return.

I e-filed my return last night after the BAIT issue. It got rejected again. This time it is saying "NJ_PY_Retirement_Exclusion_Hold - Your New Jersey state return requires a product update before it can be electronically filed". How do I fix this issue?

I have the same problem.  I don't own a business and have never owned a business.  Has anyone heard if it is repaired yet?

They fixed it last night. Mine is done, sent, and pending. GL

@gudday2u  Yes we know this. You are referring to something completely different then what we are talking about now.

Same issue....

I had same issue, although I normally mail my NJ return because I get so little back and I usually file so early I don't waste the e-file fee.

Although I had another issue with "duplicate w-2 rejection" and when I called about that issue I asked about the nj e-file one.  Turbo Tax told me they were aware of the issue, and to file by mail - basically no help at all.

I have used this product for the past 10-15 years, but this maybe my last.

I am vetting the same error.  It would NOT left me file NJ State electronically.  I did file my federal

I spoke to TT and was able to efile my NJ return.

Steps:

Open your tax return, go to file and select Remove State Return. (If it is not highlighted, try closing TT and reopen and repeat).

Once you have successfully, removed the state return, you can do NJ tax return. It will fix all the errors.

Good Luck.

I was able to file my NJ taxes electronically, just couldn't download the forms. There was a massage that said the forms were not ready to download yet and I clicked a box that said they would E-mail me when they were ready to be downloaded.

Forms were updated on 2/17.  Try downloading again.
