Hi,
How do you delete your state return? I have tried on the desktop version, and it keeps saying
"You cannot remove the data from your California return because it is selected for efiling."
Can you please let me know the steps. I understand everything else, it is just this part. I have the mac version. If you have PC, I am sure the steps are the same.
@turbotax- This will be the last time I will ever use your service. This has been a nightmare going through this.
So I went ahead and deleted the charitable contribution from federal. It updated the refund amounts on both federal and state, and then I proceeded to efile for CA. I missed the comments on here that said to delete the California return. You think it will get rejected again? Been 45 minutes or so and I'm getting anxious.
Hi,
I did the same thing and I got denied the next day. I am trying to delete the state return, but for some reason, it will not let me.
@Maawalton That I’m not sure of using the desktop version. I use the online version and within the online version there’s a trash can next to it and you just click it and then it prompts you to start over. Perhaps someone else can chime in and help you figure out how to delete your state return using the TurboTax desktop for Mac? If not contact TurboTax for help with deleting your old state return using the desktop version as I am unfamiliar with it.
Shoot.
That was my third efile. This is turning into a serious nightmare. I have the Mac desktop version too. So you're saying going to "File" and then "Remove California Data" doesn't work? And now I have to wait until tomorrow for this to get rejected *again*? WTF?!!
@moro_g For me it does not; It gives that error. I don't want to go to the end and change it and then it files it again. Same here, this was my third rejection. I am calling them now, but I am sure they will be no help. Worst case, I might just have to wait a month or so for them to fix the issue with an update.
To bypass that error, might just have to go to the end and select file by mail. But again, not willing to risk it lol.
Who knows, you might get approved. But I did do the same thing as you and I got denied this morning.
@moro_g Not necessarily when I just resubmitted mine on the 17th without making the changes I mentioned it got rejected within 2 hours of resubmitting it.
Can someone tell me if after zeroing out on your Fed form, and getting accepted by State, if there's an amount on your 1040 Line 12B? This would be listed as:
Charitable contributions if you take the standard deduction. Mine says $200. I haven't made any changes to my Fed taxes yet. Thanks.
Hello I found answer
Good back to feberal go back thru Where it askes you to select strandard or Itemize next screen will ask about the 600 on Line 12b here eneter Zero you should be good
After changing the donations after the selection screen of standard or itemize select 0 and deleted state retrn start over.
TurboTax is working to fix the issue. 24-48 Hours hoping! Fingers crossed
I am having the same problem with my California submission. I went back and look back at my federal and it is zeroed out. How do I delete my CA return? It seems to be connected the the federal return. My federal return was accepted.
After I zero’ed my charitable out after my fed return was accepted approved for refund it shows $0 on 12b when I download my tax return from TurboTax however what was originally transmitted will be what you originally had for charitable contributions, I think turbo tax just edits the forms. That’s been my experience so far.
@airman28 Where do you do that?
@MC2022 Lol they said this a week ago when mine bounced and said would be fixed by the 17th, so take what they tell you with a grain of salt. None of their tax “experts” had any clue how to fix this nor did they take any ownership of the problem when I called either. The tax “expert” was bamboozled while I screen shared with her. Then I figured out a work around that seems to work.
HEY TURBOTAX instead of allowing people to file taxes knowing their going to get rejected because of a software error how about sending out a notification, an e-mail, anything besides continue to let people file knowing they are going to just get kicked right back.
