If my son amends his federal through efile will it automatically efile state for Georgia through TurboTax?
Also, once his amending process goes through to allow adding him as a dependent for
me to claim, can I amend my federal and state via efile or does it have to be done through snail mail. It would be for 2025 taxes. Thanks.

No, amending a federal return on TurboTax does not automatically e-file a Georgia state return.
Yes, once your son's amended return is accepted, you can then claim him as a dependent if he qualifies.
Hi John, thank you. Will I be able to amend my return through efile aftert my son’s amended return fully gets processed?
@user17714495370 Waiting for your son to amend his return will not help you e-file this year at all. Your choices are to file your return that claims him as a dependent by mail --- since mailed returns are not rejected. Or get an IP PIN to try to e-file. Either way, his amended return will take four or more months to be processed and will not be in the system in time for you to e-file.
GET IP pin in order to e-file if your dependent’s SSN was claimed on another return

Yes, you will be able to e-file your 2025 amendment through your TurboTax account once your son's amended return indicating that someone else can claim him has been fully processed.

Hi! Thank you! Should I wait a certain amount of days after the amended return has been fully processed to make sure it gos through, or will I be ready to amend through efile once his amended return go through? Do I need to wait for federal and state go through on his end, or just federal? Thank you! 😊
It's a good idea to wait for both returns to be accepted. It takes some time to be fully processed and you don't have to wait that long. However our amended form (1040-X) is not yet ready. Read the information below before you begin.
The amended Form 1040-X is not yet available and will likely be later this month. The IRS is not willing to accept an amendment for the current tax year early in the tax season. Use the link below to check to see when it will be available. Do not change your tax return until you read all the instructions. TurboTax needs to know the original numbers and the corrected numbers to provide the correct end results before you prepare it.
If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been filed and accepted by the taxing agency, you should follow these guidelines.
