Part Year NY state

I moved from AZ to NY in July. My understanding is that as long as I lived in NY less than 183 days, I'll be taxed AZ income in AZ and NY income in NY. I entered the information correctly in "My Info" and in the state tax information. I entered NY residence began on 7/5/2019, which is 179 days. None the less, turbo tax used ALL of my income for the entire year, including AZ income as NY taxable income, and taxed me for it.

I answered all of the questions correctly in the state returns as far as which income was earned in which state etc...

It isn't including the entire federal income in your New York calculation though.

The forms make it appear that it is going directly from the Federal amounts to the state amounts.  But there are adjustments made before you see the state amount.  The state will only tax you based upon your New York source income.

I have attached a blank Form IT-203.  If you look at page 2, you will be able to see how it breaks it out between the federal amounts and the New York amount.  At the bottom of that page, you can see the adjustments made to reach the New York amounts.

I've copied and pasted below. I earned 12,000 in Arizona as an Arizona Resident. Then I moved here and earned 12,000 in New York as a New York resident.

As you can see...New York is taxing me on the full 24,000.

It says its filing me as a part year resident, so I can only guess a 203b is done. But I can't look at the actual documents. I can't print them or anything, unless I'm ready to file.

At some point it asks if I've filed a 203 for multiple years to which I answered no.

The New York Income Factor shows that 52.2% of your annual income was from New York- applied to $770 total tax and you paid $402.  @taptout
