This is literally the same EXACT error I ran into last year. I am so frustrated and unable to file because TurboTax keeps creating this error.
Every time I click that I've lived in a FOREIGN COUNTRY for the past 12 months, TurboTax KEEPS UNCHECKING the month of APRIL as one of the 12 months of my continued residence abroad. Why does Turbo keep suppressing my correct inputs and replacing with WRONG info????
Also, I am NOT in the military (nor did I EVER state this in my data entry; I have ZERO military ties) but TurboTax AUTOMATICALLY included my income as the "COMBAT ZONE" income!!
I have NO confidence in this product. I'm unable to file because I'm afraid TurboTax will send WRONG information about my CIVILIAN income and my overseas continuous 12-month stay.
Please help! How can I be assured that I can file with peace of mind that TurboTax won't KEEP SUPPRESSING my correct data entry and OVERRIDING it with FALSE info? (Every time I go over and review my info, the program KEEPS outputting the FALSE info!

It would be helpful to have a TurboTax ".tax2021" file that is experiencing this issue.
You can send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information. If you would like to do this, here are the instructions:
Go to the black panel on the left side of your program and select Tax Tools.
We will then be able to see exactly what you are seeing and we can determine what exactly is going on in your return and provide you with a resolution.
Hello, my token# is 931367
Can you please check my STATE filing to check:
(1) The month of April is CHECKED for my overseas stay. (ie, I NEVER entered the US the ENTIRE 12 months of 2021). Turbo keeps auto-unchecking April, which happened last year.
(2) NONE of my salary is listed as "Combat Zone" salary. I am NOT in the military!! But Turbo automatically put my salary as "Combat Zone" earnings.
Thank you for providing us with the token. I believe there may be a display error in TurboTax online which we will investigate. I do not see any combat pay and I do see all of the months checked in the state return. Here is a screenshot from the state return:
I do not see any combat pay anywhere on the return. I see your foreign earned income excluded using Form 2555 and the only taxable income to you showing is your interest income.
I see only one error at all in the return, which may come up when you run Smart Check. Where you list information about your employer in the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion section, you only need to check the box for "none" for the US address. It appears that there is also some data typed for the address on the address line (perhaps "none" typed there? - but the actual entry here is scrubbed from the file for security reasons). Any data typed there (including none) should be removed and the line left blank.
You may also want to try clearing your browser cache and cookies before logging back in - this will sometimes fix display errors.
Hello, Thank you for the feedback. I'm glad the Combat Zone entry is no longer displaying. And I have cleared my cookies and cache.
However, there are actually TWO screens that prompt the Turbo customer to select the months. The problem is on the SECOND screen. These 2 screens are:
***2. Select the months you lived in another country: THIS IS THE SCREEN where April is unchecked. ***
(CAN YOU PLEASE CHECK THIS AND PLS ADVISE?)
Also, the issue with the US address ("None" and address in address line) - I did not enter this information. But this leads me to worry about my Federal tax report, which I've also been to hesitant to submit due to software errors. Would you kindly advise the following 3 items?
Hello,
Can you pls advise re: Turbo's default repeating error that keeps UNCHECKING the month of April for the question:
"Select the months you lived in another country"
I always manually check all 12 months individually, but every time I run a review, this question always shows "April" unchecked. I've done this over 20x now (and my cookies/cache are cleared).
I'll look forward to your advice. Hopefully, this can be resolved so I can submit my state report today.
