I have an Ohio 1099R from the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System. The last numbered box on the 1099R is #15 - State ID.
The Turbo Tax Premier program asks for input of Box 16 info - State distribution Amount. I have no Box 16, but do have gross and taxable amounts (Box 1 and 2a), federal and state tax withholding (Boxes 4 and 14) and a Roth contribution (Box 5).
So, how to I determine State Distribution Amount as no such info is provided on the 1099R? Turbo Tax requires entry of either a specific dollar amount or $0.
Thanks for help!

Enter the amount from box 1 of the Form 1099-R in box 16.
Thanks for the recommendation to use Box 1 info - gross distribution amount for the Box 16 entry (State Distribution).
But I just looked through my old files on this and realized I had asked a similar question last year - then I was told use the Box 2a amount - Taxable Amount for the Box 16 entry.
Ugh - anybody else have experience with this annoying Ohio form so I can get a consensus on correct approach?
Use the box 2a taxable amount in box 16 "State Distribution" when entering your form 1099R information in the federal Wages & Income" section. OH generally taxes retirement benefits the same as the IRS; here is an Ohio link for reference.
The link provided also mentions OH credits and deductions available for retirees. In the OH state interview be sure to explore any OH deductions in the "Income" section and/or credits in the "Credits/taxes" section.
Thank you got your assistance. I will go with box 2a.
