Also, when you verify the payment is designated correctly, please verify that $0 is not entered into box five on the next screen. A Screenshot is shown below:
I went to Other 1099-G Income and hit Revisit.
The next page listed various types of government payments and yes it includes RTAA. (Sorry I don’t know how to do a screen shot to show you.)Then a question “Did you receive any of these payments reported on Form 1099-G”. I clicked “No. I didn’t receive a 1099-G for any of these payments.” I don’t have any 1099G income.
My other income such as MCTR and small settlement checks showing on Schedule 1 I input them under..
—Wages and Income
—Miscellaneous Income , 1099-A, 1099-C
—Other reportable income (I input them manually with Description and amount since I don’t have 1099s for them)
Thats why it’s a head scratcher as to why there is an RTAA line item showing up on Schedule 1 (0 amount) when I haven’t even clicked anything regarding that.
I am wondering if there is no way to eliminate that line item, can I just submit it since it is zero in amount? Would this cause delay or questioning from IRS?
And that other screen I made the wrong input under Community Development Financial Institution Investment Credit Recapture where I am unable to un-click the button, I guess I would have to just leave it like that.
BTW, I am a new user with TurboTax.
Since the amount is $0 and does not apply to you, it should not affect your return. However, I am interested to find out why this is occurring in the first place. More than likely, an interview questions may have been asked during the step-by-step process that initiated the $0 entered into schedule 1.
As for the CA entry, since you clicked no, it won't be able to issue a form related to the credit recapture.
As a review you can check all entries of your return by reviewing the tax summary in TurboTax Online by following these steps:
Hello. I spent about 1.5 hour on the phone with TT Customer Support. They shared my screen with an Expert and they also couldn't figure out why the RTAA line item was showing up on Schedule 1. They think it may be a glitch and said since the balance is zero, it shouldn't affect my taxes.
Also, that page in State Returns/CA Credits and Taxes/Credit Recapture/Community Development Financial Institution Investment Credit Recapture; they agreed there is no way to un-click the button I accidentally clicked.
They told me to sign off from TT, delete my cookies, shut down computer and sign back on to see if the glitch would be fixed automatically. I did all that but to no avail.
I guess I will just have to submit the returns as is once IRS decides if the MCTR is taxable on Federal level.
I want to thank you once again for your assistance and effort to solve my problems. Much appreciated!!! Thank you for your patience too 🙂
