Iowa out of state income tax credit

I am a resident of Iowa and worked in Nebraska all year.  I only had Nebraska withheld from my income as my employer is not registered in Iowa.  Can I report all that income on the Iowa 130 out of state tax credit form as "Income earned while a resident of Iowa that was taxed by both Nebraska and Iowa"...even though there was no Iowa tax withheld?

Yes, HOWEVER, When you use TurboTax, and you do the non-resident state return first (in your case Nebraska) the program will report the tax paid on the Nebraska return as a credit on your resident state return (in your case Iowa).

Iowa out of state income tax credit

Thank you KrisD15, but I'm not sure now which state I started first.  I think I started Iowa first and then realized I needed to do Nebraska first.  How can I tell or how can I correct this?

You can delete the Iowa return and finish Nebraska.

Here is a link to deleting the state return.

ONLINE:

Select "State Taxes" on the left side-bar

Select "Your State Returns" from the drop-down

Click the trash can for that state

DESKTOP:

Click FILE from top tabs

Select "Remove State Return" from the drop-down list
