If my home of record is Texas, which has no state income tax, does my wife have to pay South Carolina state income tax?

The reason for her moving to South Carolina  is because of me getting orders to South Carolina, we are both originally from Texas.

She is a Texas resident and will not need to file a SC return.  To erase SC from the return:

1.    Click on Personal Info at the top of the screen

2.    Drop down to #2, Tell us what state you lived in (Make sure that Texas has been selected)

3.    On the question, “I lived in another state…” Click no

It makes no difference that you are stationed in SC, you both are considered to live in Texas, even if you own a home in South Carolina. Here is a great FAQ about military spouse rules: https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3302300

If you have a job and were withheld for South Carolina taxes, then you will probably want to file a South Carolina return to get those taxes back.  Otherwise, if no taxes are withheld, you do not file a South Carolina return.
