I got my state refund back via check instead of deposit and it has my husband's name and my maiden name instead of my married name. I got married in August and already changed my name through the IRS months ago and have my new SSC and DL with my married name. We filed jointly under my married name so I'm confused as to why they issued a check, first of all, instead of direct depositing it and why they issued it with my Maiden name on it? How do I fix this? My bank is psycho and won't accept it without it saying the right name and It probably wouldn't be until 2025 before I heard back from the IRS

Did the bank reject the Direct Deposit so the state mailed it? Double Check you bank account and routing info with your bank. If you used the same bank info for federal it might be wrong too. Then the IRS will mail you a check. It will take a long time. Don't know why your name is wrong. Is it right on your return? Maybe that's why the bank rejected the deposit because your name was wrong.
Actually oddly enough even though my name has been changed with the IRS and I have my new SSC and DL and filed with my married name... The IRS still issued the check with my maiden name on it. And my checking acct still has my maiden name on it but I'm not sure why the irs put my maiden name
The IRS gets the info from Social Security so maybe August was too late to update the IRS.
