I don't need form 3554 but it's making me fill it out

I got the same form and the same request to complete the information. I got rid of it by clicking on forms on the Turbotax home page upper right side, finding the Form 3554, and then clicking on the delete form button. Problem solved.

Help everything is messed up,  What was easy last year is horrible this 2021.  I remove the state return and the now the federal is amended.  Now it shows nothing owing and no state return.  Can't mail because is shows no return.  I need help.

Can you provide us with some information on how you got to where you are so that we can properly assist you? Did you already file your federal return and then try to do your state? Did you need to amend your federal return?

Form 3554 is used to obtain a credit for new employees acquired during the year.  For 2020, you could qualify for the credit if you hired employees in a Designated Geographical Area.

Well, @JotikaT2, I kind of expect that when I'm paying for a product to walk me through my taxes to remove a form that I didn't need.  I never said I added any employees at all, so why wouldn't you just remove the form.  It gets really tiring to find all the ways that TurboTax DOESN'T actually solve my tax problems for me (like being told that the state form is different and needs different numbers, but ZERO help about what those numbers should be - why didn't your dialogue cover that???).  Ooohhhh too hard for the programmers?  but I bet in your "professional" software for tax advisers it deals with it.

I downloaded TurboTax on my MacBook and had already paid for the state filing, but the software would not let me e-file without entering a base year about Form 3554, despite me not entering any information for this field question. I thought I was stuck, but eventually found a solution. I opened the Forms tile (located on the corner of the TurboTax software) and located Form 3554 from my CA state taxes. Then at the top of the Mac tool bar, I selected the Forms tab and the drop down menu gave me an option to "Remove Form 3554." Hallelujah! It worked and it finally e-filed my taxes.

Updated solution 2021 (Online Version):

1) Click Bookmarks (Icon or symbol on top right of window)

2) You may or may not have bookmarks saved, no worries

     2a) Click back arrow

     2b) Click DELETE FORM from list of links displayed at lower half of window

3) Takes you to a page of forms you have filled out

4) Find Form 3554, click delete and confirm.

This actually works.  This is the appropriate fix.  At least it worked for me.  All of the previous instructions were worthless.

During the review I'm required to enter information on Form 3554, and like everyone else here, this does not apply to me. However, when I go to forms Form 3554 is not on the list. Now what do I do?

1. First I recommend closing the program and then re-opening.  
2. Check for the form 3554 in your CA list now.  
3. If it is there, select it and delete form  
4. If not there, click "Open Form" in the top of the left hand menu.  
5. Find the CA form 3554 and open the form.  
6. Then delete form.
