I lived in two states, AZ and NH last year, I was employed by the same company. But my employer put all my incomes to only one state AZ. How can I adjust and split the income into two states,
Is it OK to split my incomes into two states even I have only one state W-2?
Thanks

Q. Is it OK to split my incomes into two states even I have only one state W-2? My biggest concern is if it's Ok to have a discrepancy between my AZ wage allocation in my AZ State filing and the number of AZ wage in line 16 of W2.
A. Yes, it's O.K. Because that is the accurate way to do. That said, there is some risk that a red flag will be raised at AZ Dept of Revenue. Some tax experts would advise that you mail in (don't e-file) your AZ return and attach a statement explaining the discrepancy. The alternative is file normally and explain it if and when you get a notice from the Dept of Revenue.
When you have a two (or more) state situation, you are given a chance, in the state interview to manually allocate each piece of income (including wages) to each state.
I'm not personally familiar with the AZ software, but in some state programs you must allocate the wages at the W-2 screen. You may have to use a work around to get TT to allocate your wages. At the w-2 screen split the boxes 15-17 W-2 info into 2 lines. On the 1st line leave AZ in box 15 but change the box 16 amount to what you earned in AZ ; leave the AZ withholding in box 17. On the 2nd line put NH in box 15 and the NH wages amount in box 16; leave box 17 blank.
In the My Info section of the TurboTax program you should have listed your resident state as of 12/31/2019. You should have also indicted that you lived in another state in 2019 and the date you move to your resident state.
You will file a Arizona part year personal tax return reporting your income earned in Arizona while a resident. If you overpaid your state income taxes then you will get a refund for the overpayment.
New Hampshire does not have a personal income tax so you do not file a NH state income tax return for the wages earned while a NH resident.
Hi Hal_Al and DonInGA,
Thank you very much, very clear now.

Thanks again.
you may need a corrected W-2 from your employer splitting the wages between the two states. NH doesn't tax wages but AZ may not accept the splitting of your wages without a w-2 to support it.
here are phone numbers to call and ask before you file.
Phoenix 602-255-3381

Thank you, but it's not easy for my company to send me a corrected W2, because my moving to NH is my own personal business, and I worked there online.
