Can parents and grandparents both claim 529 plan contribution tax deduction in Georgia?

Accounts are for two children in name of children.  Parents contribute and always claim tax deduction.  Can grandparents contribute to those same accounts and also claim deduction for their contributions?

Yes, grandparents can contribute to the GA Path2College 529 Plan accounts (not to exceed $2,000 per beneficiary).  If they are GA residents they will receive a deduction on their return for the amount contributed.

Contributions made during the tax year, or before the following year’s federal tax filing deadline are eligible for the deduction.

More information can be found in the GA Path2College 529 Plan booklet.

In Georgia, can Grandparents take a tax deduction on their Georgia Income tax return for contributions to a path529 account owned by the Parents?   i.e,  Does ownership of the account make any difference for the deduction by the Grandparents?

Ga is not on the list of 10 states that require the contributor to be an account owner or spouse.  So the grandparents can take the deduction for GA assuming it's a GA 529 plan.
