So my employee have both RI and MA to withold taxes. And it is shown how much tax witheld for those state on W-2 form.
My wife's employee however only have RI withold taxes and W-2 forms only shows RI.
When it comes to MA tax filing. When it counts out total income it counts my income twice and my wife once. If I choose the option to select MA tax only option then it only shows my income.
Question: Can I just add another row on my wife's W-2 form for MA so box 15 shows MA and box 16 shows state wage and 17 shows 0 since nothing was held on MA.

Yes.
To edit a W2, follow these steps:
You can also type W2 in the Search field (next to the magnifying glass in the upper right corner) and then click jump to in the search results.
My question is..
My wife employer only reported RI taxes. And no additional tax info on MA line 15 -17.
My employer reported both RI and MA
Can i, on my own, add a row to my wife s W-2 to indicate.
------
15: MA
16: employee number
17: $0

** Just to clarify this is not in her original w-2 form**
If I don't do that I can not combine my w-2 form with hers properly on TurboTax. It will either double my wage or take out her wage when doing MA return.
No, please do not add any lines to your wife's W-2.
Let's attack the real problem, which is why the MA state return is doubling your income.
It sounds like you two should have two W-2s: one for you and one for your wife.
Please do a Search (upper right) for W-2 and click on the jump-to result.
Now you should see a table of W-2s. Are there only two W-2's there?
Next, edit each W-2. Does one belong to you and one to your spouse? (look closely at the checked box)
On your W-2, are there two box 15 entries, one for MA and one for RI?
On your spouse's W-2, is there on one box 15 entry, the one for RI?
If so, this is correct. If you still have a problem, tell me, did you auto-import your W-2? If so, please write down everything on your W-2, delete the W-2 and re-add it. Sometime garbage gets added on the auto-import.
Come back and tell us what happened.

so I manually typed in the information.
And still having the same issue.
---------------
I think you understand the issue but just to reiterate with example.
so my wage, let say is, 500
and my wife wage is, 900.
whenever I do my MA return
If I ask turbotax to import just using federal, it is
(500)x2+900; hence doubling only my portion
If I ask turbotax to import just MA, it is
500 + 0; hence ignoring my wife's portion (as there is no seperate ro 15-17 for MA)
-------------------
I learned that I can fix the issue if I just add the line to my wife's W-2 form stating $0 witheld on MA.
and choosing to import MA W-2 only.
it will give
500+900
------------------
I asked the wife's employer to change W-2 but they are refusing now...or does not know how.
I think I am just gonna file with "edited" rows to my wife's W-2.
I mean after printing MA return, it looks right.
it says 0 witheld on my wife which is true and whichever amount witheld on mine.
total wage now matches the federal.
Only thing now is that instead of attaching state w-2, I am just going to attach entire federal W-2s and whatever I have.
