The version of the Software shows
WinPerReleaseMSi [phone number removed]
I did check update and it says that it is up to date. I don't know how to check the date of software or get different version?
Have you tried in your version with the 1099-R example I gave? Does that put ROLLOVER in your version?
Thanks

Yes - see my post above. On a Mac use the top menu bar, TurboTax, About TurboTax, (I don't know about Windows) bur Windows has a manual update.
I did manual update. But it still does not show ROLLOVER
You will need go to the 1099R where the rollover occurred.
I am having same issue. I am using online version. The word "Rollover" is not added to my return.
For 1099-R, I entered $27,750.00 in 1 and 5. 2a is $0.00. Distribution code is G.
1040 has 5a $27,750.00 and 5b $0.00 as expected but no word "Rollover"
Is this ok to e-File without word, Rollover?
I suggest deleting the 1099-R and reenter paying attention to the followup questions. That should put the word ROLLOVER next to line 5a - it does for me.
Thank you for reply. I re-entered several times but got same result.
I answered
Yes, this money rolled over to a designated Roth 401(k) or 403(b) account.
Yes, I made after-tax contributions to a 401(k), 403(b) or governmental 457(b) plan. And entered 27,750
Your form looks a bit different. My result is below
What if you left box 2a Blank instead of 0?

Ah, that is the reason. Most rollovers to a designated Roth or 403(b) will be taxable so the word ROLLOVER should NOT be printed.
The word ROLLOVER indicates that it is not taxable because it is a rollover, but in your case it is not taxable because you only rolled over after-tax money (box 5) so box 2a MUST be zero., but the word "ROLLOVER" next to line 5a does not apply so it is correctly not there.
Your rollover is not taxable
Got it. Thank you so much for the info!
I am having the exact same issue as the OP but with TurboTax Premier download for PC 2021 tax year. Can someone please report this bug again for this year? Line 5a correctly shows the rollover amount, line 5b correctly shows zero, and the word "Rollover" should appear next to line 5b per 1040 instructions but does not. This is for nontaxable conversion of after-tax funds in a 401k to a Roth IRA (no earnings to report due to a loss). 1099-R has code G.

I just tried that and indeed it does not show "Rollover" as it should - I will report to to the Moderators so they submit a bug report to the developers.
Bug report submitted - do not expect a fix for this minor error for a month or more.
any updates? Still getting the same problem.

No. But is not anything to worry about. The IRS gets that information from the 5498 form line 2 that the financial institution submits.
Probably low priority and will get fixed next year.
