After the RMD question did you check the box that you did a combination of things and enter the amount rolled over? If less than the box 1 amount then the remainder will be a taxable distribution.
Yes, I did it exactly right. I know because Turbotax's version of my 1099-R shows the exact amount of the partial rollover. It's just not connecting to the 1040 for some reason.....
Is this bug fixed?
There is no bug.
Delete the 1099-R you entered and re-enter.
If an IRA or defined contribution plan then :
Answer the RMD question that "None of this distribution was a RMD" or "RMD not required" depending on the TurboTax version - because it was NOT a RMD, there were no 2020 RMD's.
If this is an inherited IRA then answer the "Is this IRA inherited" with NO. The purpose of that question is to PREVENT rolling an inherited IRA over, but is allowed for 2020 only.
Then you will get the screen to say it was "moved" and all rolled over.
Also check the box that this was NOT a COVID related distributions - it was a RMD that was returned.
That will put the 1099-R box 1 amount on the 1040 form line 4a with the word ROLLOVER next to it.
@amitagar, Are you asking if the original bug mentioned in this thread has been fixed, or is your question about the RMD issue that a few people have discussed more recently in this thread? The response from @macuser_22 that "there is no bug" is referring to the latter. As to the original bug reported here (which very much WAS a bug), I do not know if it has been fixed.
If you are referring to code G not entering the word ROLLOVER then that has been fixed for a long time.
Yes I was referring to code G not entering ROLLOVER. I see 1040 box 5a showing number along with 5b (taxable income) as 0. But I don't see ROLLOVER written next to it.
I followed exact procedure described in this link.
The only difference is that my taxable income is some 0.13 cents in 1099-R, which makes taxable income zero.
I tried to change numbers in 1099-R temporarily just for testing so that I get $1 taxable income, then I see word ROLLOVER below 5a.

The IRS required that 1099-R amounts be rounded to the nearest dollar. That would round to zero. If that is what is in box 1 the just ignore the 1099-R - it cannot be filed with zero income.
My box 1 in 1099-R which is gross distribution is non-zero. However box 2a which says taxable amount is $0.13 which after rounding will come out to be zero.
Then enter zero for box 2a.
I am really sorry, may be I am not being clear and thanks for patiently answering my question.
After filling my 1099-R in turbo tax as box 1 nonzero, box 2a zero and other info with code G. Turbo tax put box 1 value in 1040 line 5a and 0 on line 5b. However it does not put ROLLOVER below line 5a or next to line 5b. Isn’t this the bug you guys were trying to solve in this thread with the original question?
Yes. Are you using the online version or desktop version. I just tried it with the desktop.
I am using downloaded desktop version, Turbo tax premier. For my case the example would be
1099-R entries
Box 1: $1111
Box 2a: $0.13
Box 5: $1110.87
Box 7: Code G
Sounds like your software might not be up to date.
The late version is dated May 7.
